Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my traffic comes from ChatGPT?

Visitors who click a link inside ChatGPT arrive with the referrer chatgpt.com. Check your analytics referrer report for that hostname, or paste any referrer into this tool to classify it. Analytics platforms with AI channel support, like Glyphex, group these visits automatically.

What is the difference between AI referral traffic and AI bot traffic?

AI referral traffic is humans: a person asked an assistant a question, the assistant cited your page, and the person clicked through. AI bot traffic is machines: crawlers like GPTBot or ClaudeBot fetching your pages for training or indexing. Referrals show up in analytics as visits; well-behaved bots do not execute analytics scripts and appear only in server logs.

Why does AI traffic show up as Direct in some analytics tools?

Some AI assistants open links without sending a referrer header, and some analytics tools do not recognize AI hostnames as a separate channel. Both cause AI visits to be counted as Direct. Tools that classify AI referrer domains explicitly report it as its own channel.

Curious what a specific bot does with your content? Every crawler this tool recognizes has a full profile in the AI bots directory, and you can control all of them with the AI robots.txt generator.

Track your AI traffic automatically

Glyphex classifies visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and more as their own channel. See which assistants cite your pages, without checking referrers by hand.
