Hosted Umami alternative: no server to run

Glyphex is not Umami. It is a separate hosted product with an importer for Umami data. If you like Umami but do not want to run a server, a database, upgrades and backups, you add one script tag and we run the rest.

Why people look for hosted Umami

  • A server for one dashboard

Self-hosted Umami needs a server and a PostgreSQL database that you patch, monitor and pay for.

  • Upgrades take time

Major versions can change what the database needs. Umami v3 dropped MySQL, for example. Someone has to read the release notes and run the migration.

  • Backups are your job

If the server dies, your analytics history goes with it unless you set up and test backups.

  • Downtime means lost data

While your server is down, nothing is collected. With hosted analytics, uptime is our problem.

  • Same idea, no cookies

Glyphex runs on Hetzner in Germany, uses no cookies and resets visitor IDs daily. The tracker is about 2 KB (1.7 KB core) and MIT licensed.

Move from self-hosted Umami in four steps

Your history comes with you. The importer reads a CSV exported from your Umami database and works on every Glyphex plan, including Free.

  1. 1

    Create a free account

Add your site. It takes a minute and needs no credit card.

  2. 2

    Add the Glyphex script

Keep the Umami script for a week so you can compare both.

  3. 3

    Import your Umami history

Run the query from the migration guide against your database, export the result as CSV and upload it in your site settings.

  4. 4

Check the numbers, then switch off the server

Small differences are normal. Once you are happy, remove the Umami script and shut the server down.
